Can art save us?
Save us from what? Ourselves? The government? The pandemic? Climate crisis? No I don't believe that art per say can ‚'save us' but I do feel that through art we can delve into deep questions around such things as ethics, beauty and the future and this is supremely important for a reflective society and culture. I also believe that art can buoy us up and support us in times of crisis so it is this two pronged approach to relevant art of our time that I constantly draw on in my own directions as an artist
Internationally acclaimed Australian percussionist and artistic director of Ensemble Offspring, Claire Edwardes is the only Australian to win the 'APRA Art Music Award for Excellence by an Individual' three times demonstrating her deep commitment to the Australian art music scene.
