What sparks creativity for you?

A:

Many things - nature, astronomy and cosmology, texts and waves, an obsessive mind, and my almost autonomously improvising hands on the piano.

Short Bio

Romano Crivici, a former member of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the New England String Quartet (violin) has also worked extensively as a pianist, repetiteur and conductor. As artistic director, he founded the Elektra String Quartet which worked with cutting-edge sound technologies and cross-cultural collaborations. In that role he commissioned and performed works by many Australian composers.

Recently, Romano formed the Elektra Collektive Unconscious, a disciplined and flexible ensemble of classical /jazz musicians which, incorporating text, improvisation and electronics, he directs from the keyboard.

He now works as a full-time composer. His work has been performed in the UK, Europe and South America. He holds a MA (Conducting) and Diploma in Social Science (Anthropology), both from the University of Sydney.
