Iliana and George own the taverna Kokkina Spaleto (Red Jacket), in the village of Frilingianika on the island of Kythira. The taverna serves traditional Greek dishes cooked by Iliana. At midnight she joins guitarist George and bouzouki player Tassos to sing contemporary and traditional Greek songs. The group perform till the early hours of the morning accompanying patrons who dance to the clapping of onlookers. The dance such as the Zembekiko is strictly for men and is mostly improvised with circular movements within a one square metre floor space – perfect for a small taverna.
