Mike's 80th Birthday 'Cause for Celebration'

Recognised as an important voice in Australian modern music scene, New Zealand born Mike Nock has been based in Sydney since 1986, he previously spent 25 years in the USA, working with many of the world’s top jazz artists. Mike composes prolifically for orchestras, woodwind / percussion ensembles and choral groups and his works have been recorded and performed by a range of jazz & non-jazz performers. With his groups, Mike tours extensively throughout Europe, Asia, USA, and Canada, as well as Australia & New Zealand. As music director of Naxos Jazz (1996-2002) he oversaw the production of more than 60 internationally released CDs.

Mike holds the New Zealand Order of Merit (2003) as well as the prestigious Don Banks Music Award (2014) and in 2009 he was inducted into the Australian Jazz Hall of Fame.
