Mount Druitt rapper Vv Pete may only have five singles to her name, but she is fast emerging as a national icon new school rap, fusing cutting-edge club production by producer-manager and label boss UTILITY with her own commanding lyrical chops. After taking Sydney’s vital hip hop scene by storm, Vv emerges unabated. Set against the stark, portioned concrete of The Nest, Vv holds absolute power, rapping over the distinctive syncopated bass stabs that have been whipping up dance floors all summer, before summoning balaclava-clad dancers who reinforce the Baille funk rhythms.

The production of “Bacardi Papi” is a story in itself. A unique fusion of drill, jersey and Brazilian club styles, the track emerged from sessions with UTILITY and Dominican producer Kelman Duran, who shared the stage in a Phoenix Trackwork co-presentation last year. Duran is highly sought after - Grammy-Award winning in his own right with a Beyoncé credit to his name, he has a global cult following centred around “dystopian reggaeton”, a genre he pioneered.
