MORGAN WRIGHT

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Morgan’s musical rise has been one less preoccupied with the heedless pace of the release cycle than most. Now a producer, DJ and one half of Burning Rose Records, Morgan spent his youth playing metal and hardcore-punk, before embracing dance music as a means of working on his own which, in 2016, became his full-time job.

Despite being in the early stages of his career, Morgan’s ambition and dedication have remained constant. In just a few years, he’s released three EPs: 2018’s ​Morg​, 2019’s Coburg, and 2020’s ​Eltham, all​ ​through Pelvis Records — all of which reflect his skillset and curiosity in pushing dance music to its emotional limits.

It’s a curiosity that has led to performances at Melbourne Music Week and Sydney’s Vivid, as well as shared bills and collaborations with premier artists including Cop Envy, Roza Terenzi, Samo DJ, Cale Sexton, Nite Fleit, Logic 1000 and Darcy Baylis.

For his first full length solo album, Morgan Wright’s ​Class Tourist​ lends from post-punk, trip hop, IDM and breakbeat, deviating from club music to formulate a record for the home listener — the culmination of which Morgan has proudly named “post-break”, or “Australiana break beat”.
