In collaboration with Gadigal artist and curator Hylander, Phoenix is proud to present Emerge.

This event showcases emerging artists, voices and creative leadership, weaving stories & songlines in the modern context through the mediums that feels authentic to them. 

Emerge aims to challenge monolithic stereotypes & conventions, displaying the rich diversity among First Nations creatives that is to be celebrated and nurtured.

Gadigal artist Hylander crafts a new wave of electronic expression. Hylander applies his unique brand of creativity and sound design to every genre he touches, playing with conventional palatability with constant experimentation. As a proud Gadigal man, he aims to inspire other First Nations creatives to expand what it means to be an Aboriginal artist beyond monolithic conventions and stereotypes.

This will be the debut performance of several tracks from Hylander’s forthcoming EP 'angel b0i' as well as several pieces exclusive to this event.
