Danika

23 Jan 2024

Melbourne/Naarm-based artist Danika, offers a refreshing and immersive sound, rich in harmonies and groove, drawing from a delicate blend of Folk, Soul and Jazz influences.

Playing in a trio format with bass and drums, Danika’s cyclical fingerpicking style and warm, textural electric guitar tones, paired with otherworldly vocals and candid lyrics creates a full sound and cathartic outlet to be shared with the listener.

Working alongside Grammy-nominated Producer Nick Herrera (Hiatus Kaiyote) in 2019, her debut Single ‘Suit of Armour’ premiered with Gilles Peterson from BBC6, Followed by ‘Sweet Mellow D’. Going on to sign with Endless Recordings in 2021, Danika released her debut EP ‘When Love Comes’.

While touring for the last few years as a backing vocalist for prominent Australian Artists including 30/70 collective, Allysha Joy, Sampa the Great and Emma Donovan and the Putbacks - her recent solo endeavours as Danika has seen her play a colourful array of festivals, including Strawberry Fields, Brunswick Street Music festival, Good Times Festival, Iso-laide, Adelaide’s Porch Sessions, Wonder Mountain Festival, Inward Goods Festival, and PBS’s Drive Live.

Danika has just released her second studio EP "Down Love" via Endless Recordings in 2023. This collection of five works builds on a mix of experimental folk and alternative and atmospheric production techniques bringing life to the pent-up feelings and frustrations often kept behind closed doors.
