Jane Sheldon: Flowermuscle
31 July 2025
Jane's 2022 album ‘I am tree, I am a mouth’ was listed on the New Yorker's Notable Recordings of that year, alongside the Berlin Radio Symphony and Björk. Her follow-up release, ‘Flowermuscle’, comes out June 27, and she's been working with brilliant audio artist and frequent collaborator Bob Scott to create a surround sound performance for Phoenix.
With an international reputation for highly specialised contemporary opera and art music for voice, Jane's own music shows the influence of the avant garde. Described as “riveting” (New York Times) and “gripping and expressive” (Financial Times), Jane’s work focuses on the experience of altered or transformative states of being and her output includes electronic music, chamber music, opera installations, works for dance companies, and large-scale sound installations for museums.
She has also worked extensively with other composers as they create new works for voice, including touring the globe with John Zorn from 2012-2017, and premiering countless new works with Sydney Chamber Opera, where she is an Artistic Associate. She has sung at the Louvre, the Barbican, the Guggenheim, and the Sydney Opera House, and performed at international arts festivals such as Lincoln Center Festival, Sydney Festival, Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival, Prototype Festival, Holland Festival, Resonant Bodies Festival, and Tokyo Festival.

Phoenix Central Park is an intimate performance space and tickets are limited. Due to high demand, tickets will be issued at random to those who have entered each ticket ballot. Each performance has a separate ballot, so if you would like to attend multiple performances, you will need to enter each ballot separately.
We advise you to listen to the artist you are entering the ballot for, and consider which shows you’d really like to attend. Entering more ballots does not increase your chances of attending.
Please only enter our ballots with your own details - if we catch you using false details, you won’t have any luck. We reserve the right to cancel any tickets we believe are obtained through false information at any time.
-
If you are successful you will receive an email up to ten days prior to the performance with instructions on how to claim your tickets.
