Merryn Jeann

17 September 2026

Merryn Jeann is a multi-faceted songwriter and artist creating an alt pop world of  magnetic sensitivity. A triple diamond-accredited artist, she has collaborated with acclaimed producers and shared stages with acts like The Jesus & Mary Chain and John Maus, performing at festivals including Glastonbury and Falls Festival.

Her 2024 debut album DOG BEACH drew international praise, with KEXP calling it “positively spellbinding.” With her sophomore release Fear of the Beauty Parlour, Merryn steps into a bold new era as a self-producing artist, crafting an intimate, romantic sound from synths, phone recordings, and minimal lyricism, expanding her vision into both music and film. The influence of her return to the East coast of Australia following a decade-long stint in Paris is tangible in this intimate body of work. Conceived instinctively while exploring sounds for another project, the album revealed itself as both a record and a cinematic experience, ultimately extending into an experimental art film created alongside close collaborators.

Romantic and subtly cinematic, Fear of the Beauty Parlour is a self-produced lo-fi pop work built from synths, phone recordings, and minimal lyricism. The album captures a tangible new energy in Merryn Jeann’s artistic world. Fear Of The Beauty Parlour is an introspective album that wanders fluidly between alternative pop, ambient and experimental soundscapes creating a poetic world both intimate and unbound, unclean and forgiving.

Fear of the Beauty Parlour forges new lines of compromise and understanding. It is an exploration of grief and love, unfolding as a metamorphic story in constant motion. Threaded throughout is a subtle, offbeat sense of the absurd that can gently disarm and quietly transform the listener.
