Land Systems is the melodic ambient project of Eora/Sydney-based musician Nathan Moas. His music explores the more ethereal aspects of ambient music, combining slow-evolving melodies with lush effect processing to create gently undulating landscapes. In this performance, Land Systems will be presenting an improvisatory interpretation of his new album Bryophyte - a work that combines his spacious electronic sound palette with granular layers and micro-textures.

Formed in 2015, Land Systems has been producing electronic music across a variety of different scenes. He started out in the DIY industrial techno sphere with hard-hitting releases like Soaked in Mercury and Hydrogen Scan (ranking 60th on FBi Radio's most played songs of 2019), before transitioning to his current ambient practice. Releases such as 2025’s Pin the Sun have seen him sidestep into a middle ground of hypnotic, downtempo music. Throughout this time he’s supported a variety of electronic luminaries, from Jeff Mills at City Recital Hall to Rhys Fulber of Front Line Assembly. His work has also been used to score a host of local and international films, most recently The Last Light Falls Gently, a 2025 documentary celebrating Te Moeka o Tūawe (the Fox Glacier) in New Zealand.

Bryophyte, releasing in November through Oxtail Recordings, will be his seventh ambient release, and for the first time on cassette tape. Pitchfork-reviewer Shawn Reynaldo describes the Land Systems project as having “a sense of grandeur to the music, but it never feels pompous or self-serious; comfort and warmth seem to be the main objectives, and Land Systems warmly delivers both”.
