Liars is the compositional project of Australian composer, producer and performer Angus Andrew. Since 1999, Liars has become one of contemporary music's most singular and continually evolving voices, with each release establishing its own distinct sonic and conceptual language.

Across more than two decades, Andrew has developed Liars as a vehicle for exploring composition, field recording, improvisation and experimental studio practice, creating a body of work that continually reimagines the possibilities of song, structure and sound.

Liars combines immersive sound, physical performance and an uncompromising commitment to musical reinvention, creating performances that are as unpredictable as they are emotionally direct.

“This will be the first time Drum’s Not Dead has been performed in its entirety in Australia, which feels significant in itself. The record also occupies a particularly important place in the history of Liars. It was written in Berlin 20 years ago, at a very particular point in my life and in the life of the project.

But I think the anniversary is perhaps less about looking backwards than acknowledging how the work has continued to evolve. Drum’s Not Dead has never really stayed still. Each time it is revisited, it seems to carry the meanings and experiences accumulated around it into a new form.

So this reincarnation of the work arrives with 20 years of history attached to it, but is also developing into its own story and realisation — something beyond what was initially imagined when the record was made.”
