Will Guthrie is an Australian drummer/percussionist living in France. Guthrie’s work is distinguished from the pointillist approach of much European improvisation by rhythmic complexity and physicality, touching on aspects of Javanese gamelan and Carnatic music.

Guthrie has released over 50 Albums on labels such as Black Truffle, Editions Mego, and Ipecac. His international performances include Berghain (Berlin), Super Deluxe (Tokyo), SPRING Performing Arts Festival (Utrecht), Meta House (Phnom Penh), MONA FONA (Hobart), Suoni Per Il Popolo (Montreal), Lampo (Chicago) and Geometry Of Now (Moscow).

Collaborators include Oren Ambarchi, Container, Sarah Hennies, Mark Fell, Roscoe Mitchell, Ahmed Ag Kaedy, Chulki Hong, Mark Simmonds, Jérôme Noetinger, Keith Rowe and Ava Mendoza.

James Rushford is an Australian composer-performer, staking out an idiosyncratic stylistic space that has been described as “electro-acoustic experimentation with a beating heart” (Boomkat) and “haunted Jacobean ASMR” (The Wire). He performs on piano, synthesizers and portative organ.

James has made work for BBC Scottish Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, Ensemble Neon (Oslo), GRM Présences Électroniques (Paris), Speak Percussion (Melbourne), Ensemble Vortex (Geneva), MONA FOMA, ACCA, RISING, Ultima Festival (Norway), Unsound (New York), Send and Receive Festival (Winnipeg), Biennale Son (Valais), Adelaide Festival and Liquid Architecture (Melbourne). Collaborators include Klaus Lang, Annea Lockwood, David Behrman, Tashi Wada, Haroon Mirza, Dennis Cooper, Judith Hamann, Joe Talia, Crys Cole, Oren Ambarchi, François Bonnet and Graham Lambkin. His music has been published by Unseen Worlds, Another Timbre, Blank Forms, Holidays, Erstwhile, Black Truffle, KYE and Shelter Press.

As a duo, Rushford and Guthrie released Real Real World in 2021 on Black Truffle (“A stunner...tense erotics and exuberant rhythmatics. Rushford and Guthrie are top musicians.” - Wire Magazine).
