Swapmeet – "Halfway" | Live at Phoenix

Swapmeet’s “Halfway” stretches indie rock into something more expansive—equal parts driving, restless and atmospheric. Formed on Kaurna Country, the Adelaide four-piece balance melodic immediacy with moments of abrasion and sonic experimentation, their songs shaped by a punk sensibility that feels instinctive and unrestrained.

Performed for Live at Phoenix ahead of the release of their debut album ‘Mount Zero’ on 17 July via LA-based label Winspear, “Halfway” is, in the band’s words, “the core” of the record. “That’s the one we’ve been playing for ages… I think it ties well together,” says Jack Medlyn.

Directed by Sydney-based filmmaker and artist Stephanie Jane Day, the film extends the song through layered, tactile imagery that as Day describes it, feels remembered rather than prima facie—softly degraded, luminous and in motion, like a facsimile of memory where traces of the past linger within the present.
