Acopia — “See You In Everyone”
Acopia have carved out a distinctive place within Melbourne’s independent music landscape, shaping songs that move between dream pop, post-punk and downtempo electronics. Comprised of Kate Durban, Lachlan McGeehan, and Morgan Wright, the group’s work is defined by restraint and atmosphere, holding intimacy and distance in careful balance.
Their Live at Phoenix film, “See You in Everyone” directed by Khushi Patil, captures the song’s emotional stillness within the Nest at Phoenix Central Park. Unfolding slowly, the weight of the song settles through layered guitars, softened electronic textures, and a vocal delivery marked by gentle remove.
Patil’s visual treatment draws on haze and memory, evoking a dream-like softness reminiscent of early-2000s imagery. Light and texture become central elements, echoing the song’s themes of intimacy and longing without illustration or excess; a quiet convergence of sound and image, where presence, absence and recollection sit side by side.
