Rhythm City explores everyday sounds by bringing together a collection of short, specially-prepared video clips which are looped and developed in real time. The clips themselves centre on rather mundane and commonplace actions and happenings, the idea being that by framing and isolating these scenes rhythms begin to emerge giving rise to a surprising form of music all while time seemingly stands still for the observer. All of this is wrapped up in a type of video-game environment which is controlled by the performer; the pianist plays and manipulates the videos on a midi keyboard while responding to them in the piano part which involves musical ideas inspired by or directly transcribed from the clips.

'Where Song Began’ is a musical celebration of Australia’s birds and how they shaped the world. Inspired by leading ornithologist Tim Low’s award-winning book of the same title, this 50-minute performance explores the Australian origins of song, ‘the birds that can sing’. Such is their evolutionary significance, ‘one may ask whether human music would have reached the heights it has, had the first songbird not sung in an Australian rainforest.’ Enhanced by a film of evocative visual projections, and an immersive soundscape, 'Where Song Began' encourages the audience to contemplate the origin of song and the importance of Australia's rich and colourful bird history.
